How do you find clients as an insurance agent once everyone you know is already insured? Set up a channel of your own that works without personal connections: a website that shows which policies you arrange and where people can send you an enquiry straight away. Someone searches for "comprehensive car insurance Tashkent" or "travel insurance abroad", finds your page and messages you on Telegram.

Below is what an insurance agent's website needs so that people find it and trust it, and where to start if you're new to the profession.

Finding clients as an insurance agent when you've run out of contacts

An agent usually sells their first policies to their own circle: relatives, friends, colleagues. That's a normal start, but it won't last long. You only know so many people, many of them already have an agent, and asking the same people for referrals is awkward.

If you're new to insurance, one simple thing helps you find clients: a link to your own page. It's easy to send to people you know, and they'll pass it on instead of reading out your number and explaining what you do. And people who don't know you will find the same page through search.

Why a website in particular? Instagram or a Telegram channel is a good shop window for people who already know you. But for a search like "home insurance Tashkent", search engines tend to show websites rather than posts. Posts sink down the feed, you can't sort them by type of insurance, and the profile itself is subject to the platform's rules.

A website belongs to you, and people find it on Yandex and Google. You don't need to give up social media; let it send people to the website. There's more on this choice in the article "Own website, social media or marketplace".

An insurance agent's website: a page for each type of insurance

Clients look for a specific policy: car insurance, comprehensive cover, home insurance, health insurance, travel insurance. A single general page called "All types of insurance" ranks poorly for searches like these. A separate page for each type answers its own question, and that's why it ranks better.

On each page, answer what a client would ask you in person:

  • Who it's for. What situations this type of insurance is for, and how the options differ from one another.

  • What's usually covered. In plain words, with a link to the insurance company's terms.

  • What's needed to take out a policy. Which details and documents to prepare in advance.

  • How the process works. Online or at a meeting, and how the client receives the policy.

  • How you'll help afterwards. Renewals, changes to the policy, help if there's a claim.

Write the heading and the first paragraph in the client's words: "comprehensive car insurance in Tashkent". People rarely type the official product name from the contract into a search. If your clients also search in Uzbek, make Uzbek versions of the pages.

How to show you can be trusted

People buy insurance from someone they trust. A client wants to know that you won't disappear once they've paid and that you'll help when something happens.

  • Photo, name and experience. How long you've been working and which types of insurance you know best.

  • The companies you work with. Check with the insurers themselves whether you can show their names and logos.

  • Reviews. Genuine ones, published with clients' permission. Stories about how you helped when something happened are especially valuable.

  • Contact details and hours. Phone, Telegram, where you can meet and what times you reply.

  • Honest promises. Don't write on the website about things the insurance company decides, such as the size and timing of payouts.

A separate "If something happens" page works well: your phone number and a short step-by-step guide agreed with the insurance company. It shows that you're there for clients beyond the moment of sale.

Trust has to hold after the sale too. Record the expiry date of every policy and remind clients about renewal in advance; that way they're more likely to renew with you.

Enquiries, Telegram and a calculator

Sending an enquiry should be easier than calling. Put a "Chat on Telegram" button on every page, and keep the short form to the type of insurance, what's being insured and how to get in touch. You'll clarify the rest when you talk.

Have enquiries from the website sent to you on Telegram so you see them straight away. If you get a lot of enquiries, a bot can ask the first questions: type of insurance, car make, travel dates. We discussed which messenger to choose for a bot in our article on chatbots for business.

If the price of a policy depends on a few clear parameters, a calculator gives the client a rough figure and leads them towards an enquiry. If the price can only be given after the insurance company has done its calculation, a form along the lines of "I'll work it out and send you the options" is better: a calculator with inaccurate figures raises more questions than it answers.

In both cases, point out that the exact price is confirmed by the insurance company. We looked at how to build a calculator people trust using the example of a loan and leasing calculator; the principles are the same.

Checklist

  • Every type of insurance you offer has its own page. With its own description and an enquiry button.

  • The page makes clear what's needed to take out a policy. And how it's done: online or at a meeting.

  • Your photo, name and experience are on the site. Clients can see who they'll be dealing with.

  • The reviews are genuine. And published with clients' permission.

  • You've checked with the insurers whether you can name them on the website. And you've included only what's allowed.

  • There's a Telegram button on every page. Enquiries from the form reach you immediately.

  • Policy expiry dates are recorded. Clients get a renewal reminder in advance.

If you want clients to find you on their own, not just through people you know, we can build an insurance agent's website for you, with a page for each type of insurance you offer and enquiries arriving straight in Telegram.
